Explore an architectural-asphalt planning budget using supported Kansas City roof-surface assumptions.
The 2,000-square-foot roof-surface example starts at $8,000 to $12,000 for architectural asphalt replacement under the October 2026 Kansas City planning model. Use an area you already know, or keep the example to understand the scale. You do not need to get on the roof to use the tool.
The model supports 1,500 to 3,500 roof square feet. It includes one layer of shingle removal and the stated underlayment, water protection, flashing, ridge ventilation and haul-away. Additional layers, damaged decking and complex access need a property-specific scope.

Use known roof surface directly, or a known footprint with pitch. The budget follows roof area; access, added layers and underlying repairs are discussed with the actual roof.
Keep the 2,000 sq. ft. example, or enter an area you already know. Roof footprint means the area covered, not total living space.
Keep the 6:12 example unless you already know the pitch. Pitch helps check material suitability.

Discuss your roof projectOctober 2026 Kansas City planning model for architectural asphalt on 1,500 to 3,500 square feet of roof surface.
Kansas City metro planning figures, checked October 27, 2026.
The range uses $4 to $6 per square foot of measured roof surface for architectural asphalt shingles. It includes one-layer shingle removal, synthetic underlayment, valley and eave water protection, flashing where needed, ridge ventilation and haul-away.
Additional layers, damaged decking, unusually difficult access and specialty details require a roof-specific scope. This model does not price metal, commercial systems or repairs. No extra multipliers are applied.
The calculator is a planning tool for one supported roof scenario. A new material system, a low-slope building or a limited repair needs its own scope and price.
